Frequently asked questions.

How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?

It’s very important you find a therapist you connect with and who provides the space and freedom needed for you to bring your most authentic self. I offer a free 15 minute consultation so I can better understand your needs and answer any questions you may have about my approach to see if it aligns with your needs and goals. If I feel I’m not a good match for your needs I will refer you to another provider who would be a better fit.

How long are sessions?

The initial session is 60 minutes, follow up sessions are 50 minutes, and 90 minute extended sessions are available for Brainspotting and other needs, depending on the intensity of desired treatment.

You have a right to a “good-faith estimate” under federal law (section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service act). This estimate is regarding your expected medical care costs while you are in therapy. When you begin therapeutic services you will receive this estimate orally and in writing. The good-faith estimate is only an approximation and your actual medical costs may differ. However, if there is a significant discrepancy between the estimate and your actual costs, you have the right to initiate the patient-provider dispute resolution process. For more information about good-faith estimates you may visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Do you accept insurance?

I am in network with Aetna, Optum/United Behavioral Health, and MHN/Health Net

I recommend you call your insurance provider and inquire about the cost of co-pays and if you have a deductible. You might find that out of pocket payments may be equal to or more cost effective than using your insurance benefits.

If you have a PPO insurance plan you may be able to use your out-of-network provider benefits to get reimbursed for your therapy sessions. After paying for your sessions I will provide you with a bill which you will forward to your insurance for reimbursement. To find out more about your insurance benefits and if they will cover therapy services with me call your insurance provider and ask the following questions:

• Do I have mental/behavioral health insurance benefits?
• What are my out-of-network provider benefits for mental/behavioral health services?
• What is my deductible and has it been met?
• How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
• What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
• Is approval or pre-authorization required from my insurance company or primary care provider?

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Zelle, FSA, and HSA

What are your cancellation/missed appointment policies?

Cancellations and non-emergency missed sessions will be charged at my full rate of $150 per 50-minute session and $250 per 90-minute session if you have not notified me AT LEAST 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE.

Do you offer virtual appointments?

I currently offer virtual appointments to California residents. I also offer in person therapy sessions at my office which is located in the Hillcrest/Bankers Hill area of San Diego
