LGBTQ2SIA+ & Gender Affirming Counseling

HIV and Queer counseling

Working with the LGBTQ2SIA+ community requires a special skillset and understanding of the challenges associated with navigating gender identity, sexual orientation, marginalization, and many other barriers; especially if you are queer & BIPOC. Identifying as LGBTQ+ can come with concerns around acceptance and support from family, friends, your community and the world at large. Living in a world that’s predominantly heteronormative can be overwhelming and may cause feelings of shame, anger, resentment, and frustration. Even though every queer individual’s journey is unique, many struggle with bullying, fear, doubt, and feelings of isolation. This is especially true if you lack a support system or allies. I can support you with exploring your sexual orientation or gender identity in a safe and affirming space. Having a therapist that personally understands some of the challenges associated with being queer creates a safe space for you to process the issues that truly matter to you. If any of the following resonates with you then I may be a great fit for you!

  • You are worried about how your family might respond or has responded to your LGBTQ+ identity and wondering how to navigate this.

  • You struggle with accepting yourself fully because of your cultural or religious upbringing.

  • You are entering a same-sex relationship for the first time and you’re feeling unsure about how to move forward.

  • You are struggling to feel connected to your loved ones and/or your support system and find yourself spending energy figuring out a way to connect to the queer community.

  • You’re kinky and looking for a safe, supportive, and affirming environment where you can explore your boundaries, confront triggers, embrace your desires, and navigate safe dynamics.

  • You have been questioning your gender identity or sexual orientation, but you don’t feel comfortable talking about this with your friends or family members.

  • You’ve decided to undergo surgery to reflect your gender identity, but you need a letter for insurance approval.

  • You have recently been diagnosed with HIV and need support around understanding what to expect moving forward.

  • You’ve been living with HIV/AIDS and would prefer to work with a specialist who understands your unique needs.

  • Maybe you’re affirmed in your identity already, but you prefer working with a queer therapist.

  • You are a loved one or a friend and you want to become an LGBTQ+ ally.

Whatever your needs may be, I am here to support you in strengthening your relationship with yourself and your community so you can achieve joyous living!
